Buying a new trampoline or just getting one? You might wonder, how long does it take to put a trampoline together? If you are putting a trampoline together by yourself, how long will it take you?

Putting a trampoline together takes about 2 to 4 hours on average, and this is dependent on the size of the trampoline. If you also install a safety net enclosure, add another hour. In total, you should set aside 4 to 5 hours to comfortably set a trampoline up unless you have another pair of hands to speed things up.

After more than 7 years of using trampolines and setting up more than my fair share, I’ve learned a lot about the process of putting together a trampoline. From removing screws to connecting springs, I feel confident in sharing what I know in this post.

Now that you have received your trampoline, it is time to set it up!

I would recommend reading through the instruction manual if this is your first time setting one up so you have a good idea of what you’re supposed to do.

Most manuals will recommend that you have three persons doing the installation, but I would say you can make do with two.

Constructing a large trampoline with two persons takes less time and a lot less effort, so it’s probably a good time to invite your best friend to come over for beer and pizza!

The first step would be to install the frame.

The length of time it takes to assemble a trampoline frame is determined by the trampoline’s size and kind.

There are a lot of joints and parts that need to be secured when setting up the frame, and you need to do a good job here to ensure structural integrity for the safety of the users.

Typically, you can expect to spend about an hour to get the frame ready, and another hour or more installing the springs and mat.

The total time to expect is between 2 to 4 hours.

How long does it take to set up a trampoline with a safety net enclosure?

It is best to have two persons here to install a safety net enclosure.

When you want to connect the poles with the frame, things will be a lot easier when you have a partner holding the pole in place while you secure them.

In general, you should be able to get the safety net enclosure up and running within an hour.

Of course, this might become longer if your trampoline is big.

Well, the good news is, I have done all of the above before and can give you a good estimate of how long it takes to set them up.

8ft trampolines are the most common small trampoline size available. They are great for families with space constraints but still wish to enjoy some quality bouncing time.

As a general rule of thumb, 8ft trampolines can usually be fully set up within 2 hours or so.

As trampoline sizes go up, you would expect to spend a bit more time setting them up due to more points to secure, more parts to put together, and more springs to join.

I would say that with each 2ft increment in size, you can add 10 to 15 minutes extra to the installation process.

This is due to the fact that the frames are specifically designed to be simple to assemble, as they only have a few components.

As a result, construction will take longer.

Springfree is one of my favorite brands of trampolines, thanks to its unique design and emphasis on safety. It is often touted as the safest trampoline in the world.

However, when it comes to setting one up, there are a few differences compared to traditional trampolines.

While trampolines without springs appear to be easier to set up, it is not exactly accurate here.

Due to certain complexities, these can take up to 4 hours to complete. You will receive a comprehensive guidebook and instructions to assist you in the process.

Many folks hire a professional trampoline assembly crew or bring a group of friends over to help assemble Springfree trampolines.

Can 1 person put together a trampoline?

Yes, you can assemble a trampoline all by yourself, but what is the fun in that? Not only does it take more time and effort, but you also run the risk of injuring yourself especially when it comes to the springs.

Getting a friend or family member to join in will make this a smooth and stress-free exercise followed by a barbeque, beer, and bouncing!

No, it is not difficult to assemble a trampoline as long as you follow the instructions closely and not skip any steps.

You can also make the experience better by preparing a few simple tools to make it easier for you.

How to assemble a trampoline?

To begin, read the instructions thoroughly and keep track of the individual parts.

Take some time to double-check that you have all of the tools you’ll need to correctly set up the trampoline.

These commonly include:

The trampoline frame which is made up of the top rail, leg extensions, W-shaped legs

• The jumping mat
• The frame cover
• The springs
• The screws and tools
• A steel ladder (optional)
• Enclosure net and poles (optional)

For everyone to have the best time jumping as high as they can into the air, a safe, well-built trampoline is essential.

I’m also assuming that you have worked out the area where you will be situating the trampoline.

Tools you will need

Your trampolines will typically come with a few tools such as a screwdriver and spring tool. But to make life easier for yourself, you can also have the following tools ready:

Step 1: Review the parts and get organized

A trampoline’s materials are normally packaged in two or three bundles.

Empty each packet and double-check that you have everything stated in the manual.

A missing piece can prevent you from properly assembling the trampoline, so be sure to double-check that you have everything you need before starting.

When you have all of the necessary components ready to assemble the trampoline, it is time to lay them out on a flat ground.

You can organize small or big pieces into different categories.

The goal of this organization is to make it simple to locate required pieces throughout the assembling process.

Step 2: Gathering your tools

Although you don’t need many tools to put up a trampoline, having them on hand is advantageous. Small screwdrivers and spring tools are almost always included in the package.

Additionally, a power drill, rubber mallet, and gloves are good to have too.

Power drills help you to assemble much quicker, while gloves are great for preventing accidental pinches by the parts or springs.

Rubber mallets can help you to install the springs properly.

Step 3: Assembling the trampoline frame

I should point out that each model and brand of trampoline has its own way of installation, but the following steps should apply to most.

Starting with the frame, lay out the frame sections on the ground.

Make sure there is enough room and clearance.

After that, join the T-sections to the frame pieces. T-sections serve as a link between the frame and the legs.

Begin attaching one rail to the next until you have a complete circular or rectangular ring.

This is the trampoline’s base.

With this foundation, the other trampoline components can be added gradually.

Begin adding the legs after you’ve finished the ring foundation.

Be sure to secure all joints with the supplied screws tightly.

Step 4: Install the springs and mat

Installing the springs with a partner makes it easier to align the mat properly.

You and your partner should start with an equal number of springs.

Now, go to the trampoline’s opposing ends.

Count the hooks to make sure you’re exactly opposite each other.

Begin securing the springs to the appropriate hooks.

The hooks should then be attached to the metal rings.

The spring tool will be used to stretch the springs and attach them to the hooks, and a rubber mallet will be used to pound the springs into position once they’ve been linked to the metal rings.

When all the springs are installed, it is time to place the mat on. Just before doing so, do one final check that there are no missing springs on the trampoline.

Just place the pad on top of the springs.

At the bottom of the padding, there should be holes that line up with the legs.

Metal hooks, Velcro, or ropes are commonly used to secure protective padding to the trampoline.

Make sure it’s positioned over all of the springs once you’ve finished installing it.

Lastly, it is time to hide the springs with the trampoline spring cover. This is very important as exposed springs can easily cause injuries to the jumpers.

Step 5: Setting up the enclosure

Although not every trampoline comes with an enclosure, you can purchase one when you buy your trampoline.

Get your enclosure net and bungee loops ready first. The bungee loops resemble big rubber bands in appearance.

The bungee loops are attached to the net so that when the net is bounced against, the loops help maintain it in place.

Next up are the poles.

The poles for the enclosure may come in multiple pieces. If that is the case, connect them and then cover them with foam sleeves.

Once the poles are connected, use a screwdriver or drill to secure them with screws or bolts, depending on what the package came with.

Hooks should be affixed to each of the bungee loops.

Connect the hooks to the holes in the tops of the posts.

Then, one by one, lift the posts and set them in the enclosing net’s O-rings.

After the poles are inserted into the O-rings, the enclosing net is simply hoisted into position.

Step 6: Install the ladder and an anchor

The ladder makes it simple to climb onto the trampoline and usually has three or four steps. It must be secured with the hooks and placed on the trampoline edge.

Optionally, you can also install a trampoline anchor.

The purpose is to prevent the trampoline from being blown away, or in some unlucky cases, stolen by thieves.

Some areas are exposed to strong winds, which can easily blow your trampoline out onto the street or onto a tree. Yes, I’m serious!

Step 7: Test your trampoline

Now that you are done, I would recommend that you take a look at all the joints and screws and make sure that they are all secured properly. If they are not, they are likely to cause problems such as squeaking sounds or possibly even worse such as instability.

If they are all set, it is time to start jumping and put your trampoline to good use! You could even pick up some cool trampoline tricks later on!

Common trampoline assembly problems

As a first-time owner of a trampoline, it is easy to get over-excited and want to quickly set up your trampoline to jump on.

The problem is that a trampoline is not exactly a simple toy that can be taken out of the box and into action right away.

Setting it up correctly ensures that you can enjoy it safely and not run the risk of it breaking down easily.

The following are two common mistakes people tend to make. I think they will help you out greatly.

Decide on the area to place the trampoline before you go ahead and buy one. This also means measuring the area so that you can find the right-sized trampoline for your home. It also helps partially in deciding the shape of the trampoline to buy. The area should also be free of hazards such as tree branches or hard objects.

Be sure to follow the installation instructions exactly. Don’t try to skip the steps or think they can be done in different sequences. Very often I see new owners try to attach springs while setting up the frame. That is a big no-no.

Alternatively, I find that HomeAdvisor has a much better coverage area.

The price varies, but it should not set you back more than $250. I have a quote for my area (in Pennsylvania) for $183.

How to take apart a trampoline?

If you plan to store your trampoline for the winter or for some other reason, you need to disassemble it, otherwise, it will take up too much unnecessary space.

Luckily, the process of taking a trampoline apart is pretty easy, especially if you were the one who set it up in the first place.

Make sure to keep your instructions manual and spring tool handy as you might just need it. You really do not want to remove the springs with a pair of pliers, that I can tell you.

Disassembling a trampoline should take no more than an hour or two in most cases.
